We are Musicians and Educators
In 1994, Robin Sassi started San Diego Music Studio in a small apartment in downtown San Diego. While the business started with in-home lessons, Robin found herself working for after-school programs in San Marcos, her hometown located in the North Part of San Diego. With office space available in the area, she began to carry sheet music and instruments to sell to students.
In 1996, Kimberly Deverell joined San Diego Music Studio. Although the ladies didn’t know it yet, an incredible partnership was born. And the next 25 years was going to be amazing.
Concentrating on North County San Diego, the small service-based music studio grew into much more. San Diego Music Studio now has the largest selection for sheet music, band and orchestra instruments, reeds, and music accessories in North County San Diego. A busy on-site repair facility repairs instruments from piccolo to tuba with an attention to detail the store is known for.
Having gone to the same schools she now services, Robin knew the importance of community. San Diego Music Studio awards free instruments to local schools every year, hosts free community events, and provides scholarships and learning opportunities to young musicians in the area. Kimberly advocates for music education in Washington D.C. persuading our representative to keep music in the schools.
More than that, San Diego Music Studio is a central part of the community’s music program. When local band teachers were locked out of their schools in 2020, they came to San Diego Music Studio for help. With warehouse space available, teachers were able to store their instruments over the summer and have them distributed to students in the fall.
San Diego Music Studio is not just a store. It’s a musical family. A place where employees can bring their kids, friends can laugh and relax, and where music keeps everyone together.
